Cor Unum: one heart to unite the Augustinian youth in Colombia

On November 2nd, 3rd and 4th of  2024, in the community center of the Order of Saint Augustine in Colombia, located in Villeta, Cundinamarca, young Augustinian leaders from various Cor Unum communities of the country gathered together, guided by the Youth Ministry and Vocation Ministry of the Province of Our Lady of Grace.

The meeting, according to the communications office of the Province, sought to strengthen leadership and spiritual growth through engaging activities, formative talks, moments of sharing and time for prayer.

This annual meeting is held every year to give continuity to a formation programme for young people aged 14 to 25, providing them with materials and resources to be able to share in their communities.

Young people connected to the history of St. Augustine

Cor Unum is the Augustinian Youth Movement (MJA) of the Order of Saint Augustine in the Province of Our Lady of Grace in Colombia, which is guided by Augustinian friars from various parishes and schools.

In Latin Cor Unum means One Heart, the foundation of Augustinian spirituality which is based on the account of the first Christian community, and which is found in the sacred book of the Acts of the Apostles 4,32 and in the Rule of St. Augustine, where we are invited to have our heart in God: ‘First of all, since you have gathered in community for this purpose, live in the house with one accord and have one soul and one heart oriented towards God’.

Currently, Cor Unum in Colombia is present in: the parish of Santa Lucía in Chía, the parish of Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo in Medellín, the parish of San Lorenzo Mártir in Bojacá, the church of Jesús Eucaristía in Mocoa, the church of Santa Mónica in Bogotá and the parish of Santa Rita in Facatativá.

In addition, Cor Unum has made its presence felt in a number of Liceos Cervantes in El Retiro, as well as in the northern area or in Barranquilla.
